n a small backyard alley in the Lower East Side, participants were instructed to line up outside a heavy iron door. A young woman then led the participants in one at a time. Once inside, they were blindfolded and guided through a sensory, internal journey. The performer drew their attention to the symphony of sounds filling the air at the moment - a broken air-conditioner, birds chirping, swings squeaking, children laughing - together expressing the lyrical space that is so often overshadowed by urban chaos. Our manifesto for poetic awakenings and acupuncture was then revealed to the participant by the performer, followed by live and recorded sound provocations. At the end of this engagement a new set of instructions were given to the participant, so the journey could unfold further...
